Kal Penn(44), how gaind fame as Kumar from "Harold & Kumar" and adviser of President Obama turn out be gay and engaged to his longtime partner Josh.
The actor rose to fame in the "Harold & Kumar" trilogy, revealed his sexuality publicly for the first time on Tuesday's release of his memonir, named "You Can't Be Serious."
Penn(44) is engaged to Josh, his partner for 11 years, he told People Magazine in an interview published on Sunday. He also told the magazine that he felt "very supported" when he came out honest to his close ones.
"I shared things with my parents and close friends first. I know this sounds jokey, but it's true! When you've already told your Indian parents and the South Asian community that you intend to be an actor for a living, really any conversations that come after that are super easy." said the actor.
"They're just like, 'Yeah, okay.' That's a wonderful thing. I know everybody has different experiences with that and so I definitely feel very fortunate." he added
Penn(44) told People Magazine that while Kal was very excited to share the circumstantial of his longterm relationship with readers —Josh and other close family members, don't love attention and shy away from the limelight

Kal realized his sexuality late in life, the actor added. By specking about his wedding plans, Penn said he wants a big traditional Indian wedding but his partner(Josh) would prefer a "quick 20-minute thing with our families and that's it." The couple would have to "meet halfway in the middle." Penn added.
However his worldwide fame came from "Harold & Kumar", Penn also appeared on"The Namesake", "House," "Designated Survivor," "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory."
In 2009, Kal Penn took a break from acting to serve in the President Barack Obama's administration. Till 2017 befor his resignation, Kal Penn worked on the White House Office of Public Liaison, dealing with Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and the arts community till 2017.
